This cemetery contains several older gravestones moved from the College Churchyard in Glasgow in 1873 and from Gorbals Burial Ground in 1883. Operated as a joint stock enterprise the Cathcart Cemetery Company Lts from 1876. Company records 1876-1976 held in Glasgow City Archives. The cemetery has Jewish and Muslim graves.
